In the Life of Jamie...

On Valentine's Day weekend Joey and I went on a little mini-honeymoon:-) We headed up to Lake Geneva in Wisconsin and spent the two nights at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa.

Room service!!

It was so good!!

TV in the bathroom mirror... so cool!

We went to the Lake Geneva downtown area and walked around a little. It was freezing cold so we didn't stay long but we stayed long enough to see these swans swimming in the mostly frozen lake and the snow sculptures froma contest the weekend before.

The ski villa.
We spent Saturday skiing! I had been skiing once in high school but that was the extent of our combined experience. We took a group lesson and then we were on our own:-) We did very well....we were proud of ourselves! Ready to go again but we'll do some stretching before...man we were sore.

The pictures are a little out of order but we saw this group of deer on our way out.

This was the end of the run that we took most of the time.

On Saturday we took a much needed break from skiing to get a couples massage. The spa was amazing!

View from breakfast at one of the hotel resaurants.

We had such a good time! Saturday night we had dinner at The Geneva Chophouse which was incredibly delicious! I wish I got pictures of us while we were up there but not this time. You'll just have to believe we were there:-)

Makenzie

On Saturday, January 30, 2010 my sweet sweet cousin Makenzie went to be with the Lord. After a tragic car accident on Friday morning her body just couldn't hold on any longer.
Kenzie was loved by so many. Her bright smile and contagious laughter was something a family event never went without. Too often when a young person dies we think about all that they missed out on and how much they didn't get a chance to do. My hope is that those who are grieving her loss do their best to think about just how much she did do and how many people she touched with her beautiful soul.
We love you Makenzie...we know that you are in good hands.

Christmas Morning 2009

This year we spent Christmas Eve and Christmas day in New Hampshire. When we woke up on Christmas morning Joey and I exchanged stockings and a few presents that we brought along.
Fun stocking stuffers...

A couple of weeks ago we had a little party to kick off the holiday season. Sara, Frank, Luke and Alli came over for dinner, gingerbread houses (or buildings of some kind), and a movie.

Joey and I switched the living room furniture with the dining room furniture in order to watch our movie, "movie theater style".

The process begins...

Alli may have had a tough start but we helped her through it:-) Her mistake in her construction may or may not be due to her beverage.

Sara's theory was to use as much frosting as possible... oh yeah, and all of the tips she picked up on Cake Boss.
Luke was not the only one that had issues with the decorating bags.

Here are our finished "buildings". I will include some highlights but I want to see if anyone can match the "building" to its artist.

#1 This "building" was once a quaint little cottage with an adorable spotted roof...it just did not want to stay standing! No problem though....they turned it into....a....hmmm....
#2 Details, details, details! If you look closely, you can see Rudolph and a snowman. Very precise work!

#3 Well..... this one speaks for itself.

#4 This house features a stucco roof and intricate path leading to its lavish backyard.
#5 This house includes a wreath, two Hershey Kissed trees, and a pile of snowballs ready to throw!

#6 This was described as the one and only solar powered gingerbread church. I think that's all that needs to be said about this masterpiece.

Christmas Tree!

Our Christmas tree outing this year included a trip to Chipotle first:-)
Mmmmmmmmmm!!!
We decided to just go straight to Home Depot this year rather than hunting through the random roadside tree stands. We are very glad that we did this! We found a beautiful tree and it was even cheaper than the past three years!
Ta da!

We brought it in while it was still wrapped which made clean-up much easier!

Merry Christmas!
